Picturesque Navajo Lake was initially known to the Piute Indians as Pa-cu-ay, meaning "Clound Lake." The lake came into being when a lava flow dammed the valley's eastern end. Boating, swimming, and fishing are popular activities at Navajo Lake.
There are approximately 120 improved campsites near the lake.
Boats, lodging, gasoline, and limited supplies are available at private resorts on the south shore.
